May 20, 2013 - Memorial Day Holiday - Residential Garbage Schedule
Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, there will be NO garbage pickup on Monday, May 27, 2013.
Monday’s garbage will be picked up on Tuesday;Tuesday's garbage will be picked up on Wednesday;
Wednesday's & Thursday's garbage will be picked up on Thursday;
No change in Friday's pick-up route. All routes will begin at 7:00 a.m. each morning. The baling facility will be OPEN on Saturday, May 25, 2013. The baling facility will be CLOSED on Monday, May 27, 2013.
May 14, 2013 - Road Closure
Effective today, the North bound lane of 4th Ave SE will be narrowed near the 2nd St SE intersection for road repairs. 2nd St SE, 400 Block will closed during the repair work. It is anticipated the road work could take 2-3 days for completion. Motorists' should use caution in and around this area and use alternate routes if possible.
May 6, 2013 - Residential Garbage Notice - Resume Alley Pickup
Beginning Monday, May 13, 2013, City Sanitation crews will resume garbage pick-up in the alleyways. Street Department crews will also begin grading and graveling operations in un-paved alleys. Please place garbage out for pick up by 7:00 a.m. Trucks WILL NOT return to the area due to missed garbage placed out after the scheduled garbage route has been picked up!!
May 2, 2013 - James River Study
Beginning Monday, May 6, 2013, the City Engineering Department will be conducting survey work IN and AROUND the river areas in Jamestown. he data to be collected includes 1st floor and low opening elevations of homes & businesses near the river which will require city crews to be on numerous individual private properties for short periods of time. This work is part of the on-going US Army Corps of Engineers River Study and should be completed in 2-3 weeks.
April 18, 2013 - Road Closure - Viaduct 4th Ave NE/SE
Effective Friday, April 19, 2013, the SOUTH bound lane of the viaduct (4th Ave NE/SE) will be closed from approximately 9:30 am until 11:30 am for road repairs. Motorists' should use caution in and around this area and use alternate routes if possible.
April 18, 2013 - Road Closure - Utility Replacement/Repairs
11TH Ave SE between 12th & 13th St SE will be closed for water main replacement work due to a “cascade” failure in the water utility line.
Crews anticipate the repairs will take 7-10 working days, weather permitting. The Street will remain closed in order to facilitate the repairs.
Residents in the area may experience short periods of water outages during the repair period.
Motorists' should use caution in and around this area and use alternate routes if possible.
April 11, 2013 - Residential Garbage Notice - Suspend Alleyway Pickup
Due to the changing weather conditions causing extremely muddy conditions in the alleys, the City Sanitation Department announces that effective Monday, April 15, 2013, the City Sanitation crews will no longer be picking up garbage in the alleyways.
Until further notice, please place garbage containers on the boulevard no further than 3’ from the curb on your scheduled pick up day.
Please place garbage out for pick up by 7:00 a.m. Trucks WILL NOT return to the area due to missed garbage placed out after the scheduled garbage route has been picked up!
